Nutwood concerns itself entirely with "nut" trees. We are nut enthusiasts and welcome telephone calls for advice or just a chat, but PLEASE only telephone between 6.00 p.m. and 9.00 p.m. We cannot cope with casual callers, but if you wish to collect your plants, this can be done by prior arrangement.
In the recent past, U.K. nut growing has been largely limited to hazelnuts. Walnuts and chestnuts have not been considered a viable proposition. Recently there has been a tremendous amount of development work done in the U.S.A., Canada and Eastern Europe in improving the cold tolerance of a wide variety of nut trees. In particular, walnuts and chestnuts have been improved out of all recognition.
The increasing popularity of Vegetarianism, Veganism, Permaculture and Agroforestry as well as the general move towards healthy eating in a sustainable environment has increased the interest in nuts and nut trees.
