GAWMLESS END

Gawmless End, or GORMLESS End,

perched on a steep Rossendale hillside.

Gawmless (or Gormless) End is an historic old Lancashire farmhouse nestling among the Rossendale Hills in the West Pennines of northern England. Also known locally as "Whitworth Castle" because of the unusual castellated gable end overlooking the valley, it is the only Grade II Listed Building in Shawforth.
These pages will cover the following:
  • The History of Gawmless End
  • Activities on the farm
  • A little about the surrounding region
  • Anything we find interesting or think others may find useful!
